Welcome back to another “off topic” post 🙂

I wanted to do a top 10 favorites of all times, but figured that just like literature, genres are different. I mean, “Catcher in the rye” Vs. “Lord of the ring“? Can you really make that comparison? I assume that on some level you can, but when it comes to saying which one you like better, the answer is – Depends.

So with that in mind, let’s count down from 10 to 1.

Important note: I consider Led Zeppelin a Rock n’ roll band and AC DC will be in a different category too 😉

10. Nightmare – Avenged Sevenfold

This song is practically brand new compared with some of the rest of the list, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t earn the spot. Good old spooky song played with tremendous amounts of distortion and drums, growls and loud noises all around 🙂 Avenged Sevenfold is definitely up there in my favorite newer rock bands.

9. cryin’ like a bitch – Godsmack

Saw them live in Toronto, Canada opening for Metallica and immediately thought it was so appropriate. They bring it on stage and in studio. Intense and loud, just like Metal should be.

8. One step closer to the end – Linkin park

As we move up the list and back in time, You might raise your brows at this, but please put those hairy things down. Whether the band members like to be called “New Metal” or not, it’s a fact that they are the best thing that happened to Metal in years. Refreshing approach, innovative and still kicking ass!

7. Killing in the name of – Rage against the machine

Angst. Frustration. Rebellion. phenomenal guitar player and outrageous lead singer. Not afraid to speak their mind and “fight the system”. And then you do what they told ya!

6. Welcome to the jungle – Guns N’ roses

Here’s a guy who’s out there to make some waves, backed by one of history’s best ensemble of musicians. Talk about the right song at the right time, at the right place. The title says it all – welcome to the jungle baby, you’re gonna die….

5.Iron Man – Black Sabbath

The forefathers. The founders. Where metal was invented. I don’t feel like saying too much about pieces of history which are self explanatory.

4. For whom the bell tolls – Metallica

And then came the four who took what Sabbath started and brought it to new heights.

3. Ace of spades – Motorhead

Rough, loud, slurred, you name it. Lemmy kicks all sorts of butt.

2. Paranoid – Black Sabbath

Head bangers ball. Think everything has to be so complicated? I don’t.

1. Master Of Puppets – Metallica

This song has it all. Fantastic lyrics and message, phenomenal lead singer, outstanding energies, guitar solos. If I die and hear Mr. Hetfield sing “Master! Master!” I know I got to heaven.

I tried not to put 5 Metallica and 5 Sabbath songs (Although I was tempted 🙂 ). I hope you enjoyed that list. It’s just a matter of taste of course. What are your top 10 metals tracks?
